VISION STATEMENT

Ilford Community Initiative (ICI) is a community platform for the residents of British Bangladeshi heritage. The ICI intends to work towards creating a safe, united and harmonious space for residents of British Bangladeshi origin living in Ilford South and North to come together with the aim to improve their quality of life and to work for common good.

MISSION

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for members of the British Bangladeshi community in Ilford South and Ilford North area in Redbridge. This is a voluntary not for profit organisation to create social value and make a positive difference to British Bangladeshi families and individuals. We aim to work with statutory, voluntary sector, community, and faith groups to ensure provision of services which best meet the needs of our community.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Provide opportunities for networking.
Promote community cohesion between communities and faith groups.
Promote civic engagement in public life and encourage socio-political empowerment.
Support community activism and grassroots initiatives.
Help with research, consultation, and engagement to influence decision making.
Challenge discrimination and work to overcome barriers and promote equality.
Encourage support community healthy lifestyle initiatives.
Promote British Bangladeshi history, culture, and arts.
Support the advancement of education amongst British Bangladeshi families.
Provide support to improve members employability and training opportunities.
Sign posting – support voluntary basis, funding, and related issues as appropriate.

MEMBERSHIP

Open to all interested individual of Bangladeshi heritage over the age of eighteen who ascribe to and support the vision, values, aims and the constitution of ICI. Membership will comprise of General Member and Student Member.

ORGANISATION & STRUCTURE

Organisation structure will include a Management Committee which will ensure effective and transparent governance and provide strategic direction. The Management Committee will be assisted by various sub-committees as required. Committee Members will be voted in by members for a term of 2 years.

LEGAL STATUS

Ilford Community Initiative shall be a Limited Company by Guarantee. Once the first AGM and elections are held and an Executive Committee (EC) voted in, necessary steps shall be taken by the EC to effect that the Ilford Community Initiative be registered as a Limited Company by Guarantee. During their tenure in the Office, Elected Members of the EC will serve as Directors as per law.
